How to find the right cigar
You are new to the world of fine cigars! Here are a few points to think about.
Firstly, understand yourself and your own tastes.
Preferences often go hand in hand, for example, you enjoy your coffee strong and black, you will probably prefer rich and robust flavoured cigars. Your taste is inclined to creamy coffee or flavoured teas, you may find mellow and creamy cigars more to your taste.
Secondly, how much time do you have.
You have a 10 minute break, you wish to enjoy your coffee after lunch for half an hour, or, possibly, a couple of hours after dinner, with your feet up, listening to relaxing music, with a glass of soft Irish whisky. Consider both thickness and length of your cigar, it is not a good idea lighting up a Churchill, with a ring gauge of 48 to 52 and a length of almost 7 inches, for a ten minute or half an hour gap!
Thirdly do be adventurous:
Enjoy adventure, experiment and permit your tastes to develop. When I first began drinking wine, I liked wine that was medium to sweet and easy drinking, that soon moved on to a wish for drier styles, with more complexity. Although I do still enjoy an asti on a hot summer's afternoon, with a bowl of strawberries.
It is often a good idea for the beginner to begin with the easier smoking, more mellow styles of cigars, but you know? Your taste is of prime importance, it is what you enjoy that is right for you.
